Jet Stream Thinking Mind

The following visual came to me during meditation a few mornings ago:

The mind is like a jet
and a jet stream.

I am racing
at incomprehensible speed
through open space
in the pilot seat.

But my mind may be
in the cloudy trail
lingering briefly behind.

To remember that I am flying,
Right Now,
to feel the grip of the yoke,
is to Awaken.

But it’s also a bit jarring,
especially if I’ve been
in the clouds for some time.

Do I want to fly,
accepting that flying is dangerous,
and that I can’t fly forever,
or do I remain
in the cloudy smoke.

This is my choice
in every moment,
including This one.
