Tao Te Ching: New Course

A few months ago I set out to create a new course on Insight Timer in which I would read through each and every entry of the Tao Te Ching (a classic spiritual text of ancient China).

The book sat on my desk and, in a flash of inspiration, the course seemed quite clear. And it was clear, and simple. But it was a huge undertaking. Now, after many (at times painstaking) hours of recording and editing, I’m quite happy to announce the project is complete and available for you to enjoy, if you’re interested.

The course is titled Tao Te Ching Mastery: 83 Days of Ancient Wisdom for Spiritual Enlightenment. And yes, there are 83 separate sessions within the course. The sessions are each seven minutes in length and, in addition to a short reading from the Tao Te Ching, they contain reflections and simple guided meditative practices in relation to the mysterious Tao. The Tao can be translated as “the way.” The way of things. The way of nature. The way of reality.

Rarely do I listen back to my own work, but I’ve found myself listening through and enjoying this one. Is that narcissistic? Maybe. But maybe not in this case, because the work isn’t quite mine per se. I’m merely sharing ancient wisdom through the little vessel that is me. It’s helping me remember something beyond me.

My encouragement, if you try this course out, is to not get caught up in the term “Taoism.” This course is not about -isms, labels, traditions, or fixed beliefs. On the contrary, it is about letting go of fixed beliefs, letting go of being the expert, letting go of control, letting go of separateness, and remembering the underlying unity that runs through all of existence. To remember this unity is to feel free, and to release the pressure of your life story. You might call this the feeling of spiritual enlightenment.

Logistically, the course could be listened to either as a sitting meditative practice or on the go, while you’re driving, walking, eating your breakfast, or going to the bathroom. Whatever works.

So I hope you join me. Click here or on the image above to hear the course trailer and potentially begin the journey alongside me. I’ll also be holding a few free live events on Insight Timer to share more about the course (click here to sign up for the free live events).

I’ll leave you here with the opening line of the Tao Te Ching:

The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao.
